I have this camera for about a week and was now, as I'm quite satisfied. The only thing that is really strange for me sold an HD camcorder, but not including a HDMI cable bundle …? Playback of recorded images on HD TV with RCA cables or components that are not collected result in good image quality. My mini HDMI cable should be the next day or so shipped and then I'll be able to really judge the video. So far the video looks much better on my computerMonitor on my 52 "1080p LCD TV.
Ships with the video quality camcorder XP series, instead of the highest quality UXP. In determining the quality UXP it issues a warning that the video files UXP can only be on Blu-Ray, which will obviously be written sense. However, the included software automatically downgrade UXP video files as XP, if you want to write to a DVD, and then you will still have the superior quality UXP for future use. It seems strange not to the filehigh quality as you can always downgrade the movie, but will "never" upconversion true full HD quality when recording quality.
So far I am impressed with the quality of photo stills, but I have not played much with the settings. The handful of frames that I took, it turned out, grainy and dark. Special photo mode, you can Stills 9MP, while taking snapshots in the video mode is limited to 5MP. So far I think all my stills weretaken in video mode.
The camera has some great features that have not played yet, I am sure that I never. The time period is a great feature, but if there is a spectacular sunset or something I'm not sure I'll use a lot for this. The same applies to the Auto Record to be interesting, but what are the practical applications? I think I could set it and see how many times my dog moves during the day, if we are not at home. One thing is with these two modes thatLCD must remain open when you close the camera's LCD screen turns off completely.
The battery supplied with the device is not very long – about 45 minutes. The built-in memory can hold about 2.5 hours of video quality UXP value so that the battery is by far the limiting factor in your application. If the video via HDMI is proving to be as good as I hope I'm going to invest in a larger battery and a charger stand-alone. Out of the box, charge the battery only when the power cordplaced in the same camera.
The included software is very easy to use and has some methods of organization of the beautiful view video files in a calendar format for month, day and time that makes it easy to find your files.
The software has options to convert the video to a number of different media and file types. You can write files on Blu-Ray, DVD and AVCHD discs (DVDs). It also has the ability to convert video to upload on You Tube, iTunes, and canto convert. wmv for use on computers and uploading sites like Facebook. The conversion process lets you choose the video format you want, and was, at least on my PC to process fast enough.
I'll try this after I review in a position to test video via HDMI and use the update function anymore.
UPDATE 24/03/2010: recorded a school concert last night, and the battery lasted for 1.5 hours recording almost constant. That was much better than the capacity that I noticeddistributed before the insertion of 5 or 10 minute segments over a couple of days.
UPDATE 03/28/2010: Video quality on a category-2, Mini-HDMI cable is much better than using the cable supplied with the camera. TV shows full resolution video 1920×1080 even though did not specify whether 1080i or 1080p. The box indicates that the camera is full 1080p output, but can not control, is safe.
I can get a bit 'more still images in both video and hadspecial photo mode. View the photo right lighting used in both modes. Images taken in special photo mode, superior quality of what to expect, since 9MP images instead of ~ 5MP images available in video mode.
All in all, I am more happy with camcorders now then I was when I originally posted this review. I rate at 4 1 / 2 stars if possible.

So far, really good! – Thomas Bohlmann – Port Royal, VA
To begin, I rank my experience the video as a rookie … but I love the technical side of the new gadget. My journey actually began in January 2010 with the HD model JVC Everio GZ-HD320 from Best Buy. I took the camera, again mainly because of poor performance in low light conditions. However, I like the atmosphere and camera operation, and I felt a bit 'sad that I still am.
I later discovered, has changed its line of low-lux models, and last month my chances onGZ-HM550. Low Light Recording (internal) was really important to me, and this model has the largest image sensor back-lit throughout the Everio line (0.429 inch diameter). Although I am not compared to other camera brands have HM550 low-lux, much better than its predecessor (HD320) in medium / low light. in bright ambient light, the video is very crisp and clear.
As with physical properties, the camera is really small and light. Almost too small, like the buttons to zoom in and registrationbe about half of the palm does not remove it completely ergonomic for people with large hands or fingers. The laser-touch menu keys and associated bars are easy to use and requires only a very light touch to activate. There are many menus and options are chosen – and may find it difficult to get some exercise. Some menu screens can be difficult to navigate, while the image in the heat of the moment – but the practice and know what, where and how to use the camera settingsabsolutely key. The amount of time and logging machines are really cool! After a clock in sight during fast movement adds a little touch of fun. The high-speed video (600 fps) feel great, but it's really kind of lame – the resolution goes down – to a point where most of the details is completely gone. Nothing would be as shown MythBusters. I do not know if I ever use this feature. The on-board flash is ideal for regular photo camera! And since some lightingConditions, which is sometimes a better choice than a video capture. However … the autofocus image may be slow, sometimes 1-2 seconds before a "light" green sprout. If you have a theme picture very patient, the delay may mean, sometimes lack the desired pattern. Bluetooth / GPS? I do not have the features used today. Oh yes, and the switching time is very fast, very fast when the camera is still in sleep mode.
The video editing software (Pixela) concluded thatBundled with the camera is completely bare bones and is only good for dumping video "unpublished boring hard drive. I use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate version 14 video editing and DVD creation. The Pinnacle software will run $ 50-75. professional editing software like this, you can cut video files, make poster frames, montages, add sound effects and music, add transitions, audio clips and video clips, and all sorts of other interesting things. The real "Movie Magic" is in the mailProcessing. If you do not worry be happy with your video art, then the software supplied Pixela is doing very well.
I realized that modern digital cameras are not easy like the old analog (VHS) style. I had to buy the camera, then a new (faster) computer, and a special photo editing software to get the video I wanted. Not recommended for the faint of heart. But for the machine-head-techno-geek, this camera is rockin! I love the total – while the camera and its annoyingstrange little me, there is only "small". Like everything this camera is operating effectively, knowledge of equipment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and holding tough mechanically and electrically.
So much packed into such a small camcorder – Adrian Batt –
This is the fourth Video camera that I bought over the years and am surprised at the increase in image quality and features. The HD picture quality is excellent, the amazing low light capability, and the images are still almost as good as my Sony Cybershot (but I use the Cybershot for the photos I included in better quality).
The 32 GB of flash memory is pretty good, and is extended with SDHC card slot. Less fragile than hard disks installed, the flash memory makes theRoom potentially more durable and long lasting. Currently, high-capacity cards are very expensive, but prices are dropping right now that looks SDXC cards. It would have been nice if the camera was on the compatibility SDXC future, but I think it is an update for the next model year (SDXC cards for up to 2 TB of data will !!!).
The downside is that I'm not too impressed with the image stabilization. In this light, a small camera and camcorderShake is a real problem and the electronic stabilization program is not nearly as good as optical image stabilization, I was on my old Panasonic. I think it's a problem with all these mini-video cameras, however, and probably not at the JVC Everio range in isolation.
If you buy this camera to ensure that at least one extra battery – preferably the larger capacity BN-VG121. The small battery that comes with the camera is not very good when it comes to an end, once in aHour. And if you're like me and the camera, while you wait for a good scene or add an event, it lies, unless we could have added a lot.
On a related subject, I was disappointed that no separate charger is supplied, you can only use the camera's battery. You can use a standalone charger, but it is not cheap – and could for the money you and compatible network JVC car and have to take two batteries simultaneously. My old Panasonic wasthat luxury, so this is a step backwards.
Below the line, but I am more than satisfied with the JVC GZ-HM550 and is anyone looking for a compact high quality HD camera to recommend. Even on a "50 plasma screen, the picture quality is amazing, and low light images are not grainy and colorless, as they were with my previous cameras.
Tiny, but that’s not enough – Dave A. Pinke –
First, for some test shots I shot, go to [...] and search for jvc 550
So I just bought this camera yesterday, and his dedicated my first HD camcorder. I have a Lumix FX-37 and more recently travel to shoot video in 720p ZS3 Lumix, but I plan to travel soon and want some step up to 1080p with a few more features. If you want super pocket HD video, I recommend the Lumix series and could return to them exclusively.
I mainlyBought this camera for video northern lights, a topic that is almost impossible to get decent information. These sensors JVC large and large LowLight have support, so hopefully we can work it out. I will update once I'm back with the footage.
I mean, I'm not used to handling and camcorders, and I might revise this review in a couple of weeks when I have more experience, but here are my first thoughts.
Positive:
– Interfacesperfectly with iMovie 09
– The video quality is really good as the day I have not taken through its paces yet, but so far I'm impressed
– The video is not smooth, 60fps vs 30fps shooting helps
– Time-Lapse function is very cool
– Slo Motion is clean, but almost meaningless, since the resolution is less fun
Negative:
-There are only five Lilker scene selection, including the extraordinary mode, Night Owl, which is disturbed and blurry video. The restseem to be done, and fashions in the middle with the camera is fast difficult and time consuming.
– I'm not on your way to hold a camera be used as such, are still working to find a way not so shaky.
– I could not go to OIS, but if you do not work particularly well
– The battery is not particularly long, I bought an extra life long battery life (121), so I hope to do it through a day with both.
-Focus is a bit 'unpredictable, go toand out of focus during recording.
-The "touch" screen is kind of cold lasers, but after the initial novelty is not as fast as other systems touch screen or scroll button.
– Low Light looks good, but if you compress the video signal, and starts to become very blocks.
– This camera is truly pocket, but only just.
– Sometimes the REC button is near the battery and the thumb can not be hid. More your hands are larger the larger the problem.
– Hatethat there are two steps to delete a video, its consumption of stupid and time.
– There is no external charger.
